Procedure
1.1 Pre-Shift Preparation
Check Weather Reports:
• Review the forecast for rain, wind, and temperature to ensure optimal mowing conditions.
• Check your Jobber schedule for the latest area assignments and any client-specific instructions.
Inspect Equipment:
• Perform a walk-around check of the Lawn Mower—verify fuel levels, oil levels, and that blades are sharp and secure.
• Examine the String Trimmer for proper line supply, engine performance, and safety guards.
• Check the Backpack Leaf Blower for adequate battery charge or fuel, and ensure airflow and nozzles are functioning properly.
Load Supplies:
• Stock up on fuel, oil, spare trimmer line, and any additional supplies needed.
• Secure all tools and equipment in your service vehicle.
1.2 Mowing Operations
Arrival at the Site:
• Equip all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) including high-visibility clothing, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
• Conduct a quick site survey for obstacles, pets, or areas that require extra caution.
Mower Setup:
• Adjust the mower height for optimal cutting based on grass length and lawn conditions.
Mowing Technique:
• Maintain a steady pace and adjust your path to cover the entire area without missing spots.
• Avoid mowing wet grass to prevent clumping and uneven cuts.
String Trimmer Operations:
• Edge along sidewalks, fences, and garden beds with smooth, controlled motions.
• Trim around obstacles carefully to achieve a clean border without damaging landscaping.
Backpack Leaf Blower:
• Use the leaf blower after mowing and trimming to clear grass clippings from walkways, driveways, and patios.
• Direct clippings away from vehicles, delicate landscaping, and pedestrian areas.
Complete Job in Jobber:
• Once all tasks are finished, mark the job as complete in the Jobber app and note any follow-up work if needed.
1.3 Post-Shift Procedures
Inspect Equipment:
• Perform a post-shift inspection to check for wear and tear; clean the mower deck, trimmer, and blower.
• Refuel the Lawn Mower and properly shut down all equipment.
Report Issues:
• Document any equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, or incidents.
• Report issues to your supervisor promptly.
-
Safety Guidelines
Operating Safety:
• Always wear appropriate PPE (hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, and sturdy footwear).
• Operate equipment at safe speeds and be mindful of bystanders, pets, and obstacles.
Property Safety:
• Be cautious near driveways, sidewalks, and garden beds.
• Avoid damaging irrigation systems, decorative landscaping, or fragile plants.
Employee Safety:
• Take regular breaks to avoid fatigue.
• Stay hydrated and use sun protection when working outdoors.
• Use proper lifting techniques when handling equipment or supplies.
-
Emergency Procedures
Accidents or Equipment Failure:
• Immediately stop operations if you experience equipment failure or an accident.
• Secure all equipment and notify your supervisor right away.
• Use hazard signs or cones if needed to alert others to the situation.
Severe Weather Conditions:
• Monitor weather updates closely.
• If severe conditions (thunderstorms, high winds) develop, cease operations and secure all equipment.
• Follow supervisor instructions and prioritize safety over completing the job.
